Back by popular demand - 'Rising Sun' had some issues several years back, but growers say they've strengthened the cultivar for the long term. With a request for this unbelievable tree nearly weekly, we had to try again.

It's not often that the leaves of a tree can give its flowers a run for their money, but 'The Rising Sun' does just that! In fact, from a short distance, the mix of peachy-gold and green leaves look like blooms themselves. Sturdy branches are covered with large, heart-shaped leaves, the older ones green and the newer peachy-gold, making the latter appear pinned onto the tree in layers. In fall, some leaves turn red, taking on the look of a morning sun rising among a green and golden sky! On top of all this, in spring before leaves emerge, stems are covered with thousands of fushia-colored flowers!

Botanical Name
Cercis canadensis 'Rising Sun'

'Rising Sun' grows to 10-12' tall and wide, at a rate of 12-24" a year.
