Elegans' leafs out in the early spring as a chartreuse green turning to a deep rich green as the leaf matures. The secondary flush in the summer is a salmon pink red on top of the rich green. The leaf is a heavily divided matsumurae with a saw-like serrations on every lobe of the leaf. Fall color is one of the most spectacular of any maple. Bright oranges transition to reds in a malting fashion. Quite the spectacle!

Rate of Growth
Elegans' will grow to about 6-8' tall and wide in 10 years, at a rate of 6-12" a year.
Where to Plant
Plant in full sun to part shade. A bit more shade will allow for best color retention in the hot, humid summer.

    Whether you're located in Upstate South Carolina or Upstate New York, we're thrilled you've dropped by our site! Currently we offer either 1) curbside pickup or 2) local delivery within 50 miles of our location. We do not currently have any shipping capability to send plant material out of SC.

    Please, do not order plants or hard goods if you live out of state. A 10% restocking fee will apply for out of state orders made in error.

    If your tree or shrub doesn't survive for twelve months, we ask that you return the dead plant along with your receipt and we will give you a store credit for 50% of your purchase price. Annuals, herbaceous perennials, and tropicals are not covered under this warranty.
