A native to the Eastern United States, Overcup Oak is an excellent, fast-growing and long-lived tree which is tolerant of dry OR wet soils!
Leathery green leaves emerge in early spring, changing color in fall to a rich YELLOW. Leaves then fall cleanly and completely in early fall.
Acorns are about 1" in diameter and are a favorite of wildlife!
Distinguish Overcup from Nuttall Oak, another native, by their bark and leaves - Mature Overcups have rough bark and rounded leaves. Mature Nuttalls have smooth bark and pointed leaves.

Botanical Name
Quercus lyrata
Rate of Growth
Overcup' Oaks grow quickly to 40' or more tall and wide. Unlike other oaks, they continue to grow throughout our hot Summer weather. Expect 2' or more growth a year!
