Shumard Oak is one of the largest-growing red oaks we offer. The young bark of the Shumard Oak is light grey,very smooth.

The bark will darken and develop ridges as it ages and occasionally white splotches on the bark. Leaves appear in early spring, remain green until fall when they change to a brilliant RED to brown before dropping for winter.

The acorns of the Shumard Oak provide food for various songbirds, game birds such as wild turkey and quail, waterfowl, deer and squirrels.

Rate of Growth
Scarlet oak grows very quickly to mature at 80' or more tall and 40-50' wide. Expect 2-3' of growth a year!

Whether you're located in Upstate South Carolina or Upstate New York, we're thrilled you've dropped by our site! Currently we offer either 1) curbside pickup or 2) local delivery within 50 miles of our location. We do not currently have any shipping capability to send plant material out of SC.

Please, do not order plants or hard goods if you live out of state. A 10% restocking fee will apply for out of state orders made in error.

Warranty/Returns

We stand behind the quality of our plants and make every effort to ensure that your purchase is healthy and true to its name. We'll help you find the right plant for the right place and give you advice to make your garden successful.

If your tree or shrub doesn't survive for twelve months, we ask that you return the dead plant along with your receipt and we will give you a store credit for 50% of your purchase price. Annuals, herbaceous perennials, and tropicals are not covered under this warranty.
