Plant appearance may vary
Plants may vary in appearance depending on the season, grower, or specific crop. All plants are guaranteed to be healthy and true to variety at the time of purchase.
Why plants may look different in the nursery
Plants are living, seasonal products. The photos on our website may show plants at different stages of growth, during peak seasonal beauty, or as provided by the grower.
Because of this, the plant you see in the nursery may look different depending on the time of year, the plant’s age, or natural growing conditions.

What affects how a plant looks?
Seasonal changes
Many plants look dramatically different throughout the year. Deciduous plants may flower in spring, grow full
foliage in summer, change color in fall, and appear dormant in winter.
Plant maturity
Photos often show mature plants so you can see their long-term beauty. Younger plants in the nursery are still
growing toward that size and shape.
Supplier photography
Some images come from our growers to help illustrate mature flowers, color, or growth habits that may not be
visible year-round.
Even if a plant looks smaller or different than the photo today, it has the potential to grow into the beautiful specimen shown.
Tip: Plants in winter may appear dormant but are still healthy and ready to grow in the spring.
If you have questions about what a plant should look like during a certain season, our team is always happy to help.

This U.S. native was selected by Girard Nursery in Ohio for its striking foliage which it retains year-round AND its attractive, creamy-white flower clusters in Spring.
Foliage emerges bright white, pink, coppery and green and gradually matures to green with creamy white streaks. Encourage constant new growth (and lots of color) by trimming a bit several times anytime between March and August.
Plant alone as a specimen in a shady spot in the garden or space 3-4' apart when planting in groups of three or more.
Do not site plants where their leaves will stay wet from an overhead irrigation system. Plants thrive if watered deeply only a couple times a week.
