Unique, if not downright scary, this evergreen tree really DOES thrive in our area - There is a gorgeous 40' Monkey Puzzle tree on North Main Street in downtown Greenville.
Despite their stiff growth-habit, this native of Chile and Argentina matures into a graceful specimen tree, developing a large trunk with branches that grow out horizontally from the trunk, then ascend in a gentle arch skyward.
These trees are used extensively in English gardens, but rarely utilized in American gardens.

Rate of Growth
Monkey Puzzle trees grow to about 12-15' tall by 6-8' wide in 10 years, eventually maturing at 50' or more by 30' wide, at a rate of 12-18" a year.
Where to Plant
Plant in sun to light shade. Trees are very drought-tolerant after their first year in the garden.

If your tree or shrub doesn't survive for twelve months, we ask that you return the dead plant along with your receipt and we will give you a store credit for 50% of your purchase price. Annuals, herbaceous perennials, and tropicals are not covered under this warranty.
