“Beauty For A Day”
Establishing and growing daylilies is an excellent starting project for the beginner. They are drought and frost tolerant and do not require fertilization other than a yearly addition of compost. Daylilies flower best when planted in full sun (6 hours/day), on moist, yet well-drained soil. The colorful flowers usually open in early morning and wither during the following night. However, each scape can produce as many as a dozen buds, so the plant stays in bloom for several weeks.
